inspirations
These are people and websites I have found some inspiration from. I'm usually interested in radical ideas that exist on the technological fringe.
websites
- 100r — Technologists? Artists? Permacomputing engineers? I don't know what to call Divine Lu Linvega and Rekka Bellum, and clearly we have differences of opinion, but I have nothing but respect for committing wholly to their lifestyles. Weathering Software Winter is worth a read.
- Justine Tunney — Hacking in its purest form.
- マリウス — A privacy and security oriented nomad technologist, whose blog I've probably read all of.
- Programming in the 21st Century — For me, programming has always been about creative expression first and "engineering" second.
music
- Aloe City World — London-based vaporwave label.
- Diverse System — Tokyo-based electronic music label.
- Fixt Records — Detroit-based industrial label.
social / forums
- merveilles.town — An invite-only fediverse server closely affiliated with 100r; generally filled with lots of people hacking on things for passion, not profit.
- Agora Road's Macintosh Café — A somewhat paranoid corner of the Internet that was initially home to the dead internet theory, still a place I visit now and then, mostly because I'm still into Vaporwave in 2024.
- lainchan — It's not the Internet without imageboards.
